GOP candidate endorses [D]

NY-23: Scozzafava Endorses Owens

State Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava (R), who dropped from the special election in Upstate New York yesterday, has now thrown her support to Democrat Bill Owens.

"It's not in the cards for me to be your representative, but I strongly believe Bill is the only candidate who can build upon John McHugh's lasting legacy in the U.S. Congress," said Scozzafava in a statement released moments ago.

Surely, if Dede wanted to see the Dem win she'd have stayed in the race, continuing to split the (R) vote right? According to the Fix article 60% of her support comes from GOP members, meaning the Democrat is slated to lose support to the right wing nut job endorsed by Sarah Palin. Will this endorsement do anything and will Dede now campaign for Owens?

We'll see.
