The Great Schlep

This sounds like a really good idea to me, considering Obama needs to make inroads within the Jewish community here in Florida to win the state. It'd definitely help, much as it helped Bush both times and Clinton previously. It is a great coalition to have on your side, because they vote in large numbers.

The Great Schlep aims to have Jewish grandchildren visit their grandparents in Florida, educate them about Obama, and therefore swing the crucial Florida vote in his favor. Don’t have grandparents in Florida? Not Jewish? No problem! You can still become a schlepper and make change happen in 2008, simply by talking to your relatives about Obama.
So other than being a funny word (I'm a Roman Catholic....) schlepping across the country to change America sounds like a brilliant idea. If you can afford it do it. Visit the family so you don't have to hear a ton of crap from your family about it? Check. Get away from colder areas of the country to head to Ft. Lauderdale or Miami? Check.

If you're a Jew, (or another religion) check out this LA Times article that will probably preview what visiting your grandparents or other relatives might be like. Hey it sounds worse than it was for that person, something I think applies in general to must of us.
