Cook Political Report Says Garcia is on the up

Cook Political Report changed it's status for Joe Garcia's bid against Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart, from the "likely Republican" to "lean Republican." It still thinks Fl-21 is the best pickup opportunity. Raul is also getting help from Working Families Win.

Cook brings up the fundraising totals (where Joe beat Mario) and that for teh first time Mario is going to be hit with negative advertising.

It also notes that while Diaz-Balart should get a cushion out of GOP-leaning districts in the western reaches of the district, Garcia "enjoys some goodwill" from Cuban voters dating to his years as an official with the Cuban American National Foundation. But it notes Garcia will need "unprecedented turnout on the part of non-Cuban Hispanics and other Democratic-leaning voters" in Miami to topple the incumbent.

I'd say after working this district and seeing the field operation that this will turn into a Democratic Pickup. I also wouldn't be shocked if Anette Taddeo has made up a portion of Ileana's lead. It's probably in a 8-11 point gap right now.

Seeing how the Obama campaign is bringing in comedians to the universities to register folks, and how they're getting a lot of neighborhood teams out there, I think we're in good stead in Florida.
